As i write, Mikey is in the vocal booth laying down the bridge vocals for 'Alive In You'. We have been tracking this record now for the better part of a month, and i think we just passed the halfway mark last week.
"Oh good lord yes! That's what I'm talkin' about!" Scottie just shouted from the control room... Haha if you could only hear what I hear. This record has been the experience of a lifetime... I cant remember a time when I have played this much......... Xbox. lol. Seriously, if you want to make a hit record, i am pretty sure you have to be good at Xbox. I mean when you are inside the studio for the majority of every hour of the day, confused as to whether or not it is dark outside, and you are not recording your parts, there are only so many cool Youtube vids you can watch before NHL 2005 starts to look pretty appealing.
Sarcasm aside, as a band we are desperate to play these new songs... We couldn't be more please with how they have turned out and cant wait for our friends and fans to hear them... We are road dogs, we love playing live, and this past month it has been hard to juggle, playing shows on the weekends and then driving down to the studio 3 or 4 days a week to record, but we have learned so much about ourselves and our music, in the process. This is our 5th year together as a band and for those who know us, it has been an epic roller coaster ride, but one thing is easy to see. God has been really good to these four sweaty boys from Kentucky.
I am new to this blogging thing and i feel that there are some seriously cool moments in our past as a band that people deserve to hear about. So occasionally i will be "Recapping" some of the intimate moments in the past couple years. Some of these stories will be interesting and some wont i am sure, but really... do they all have to be winners?
RECAP: For Love Or Money Tour
May 22, 2008
We are leaving Portage, Indiana. Vitamin Water tastes horrible. The sun is shining into the
front of the van and i had my barefeet on the console between the driver and the passenger chairs.
Just a moment ago, i twiddled my toes together and noticed a tiny puff cloud of what i guess is dried
skin bits, float around in the light. That's the kind of stuff you dont see all the time but happens
every day. It makes me think about what other "profound" things we fail to witness, because we
hurry through life at such a devilish pace.
Today is day 2 of the second leg of the For Love Or Money Tour. Mikey just told us that his dad
has 2 blown discs in his back and has to have surgery immediately. I hate that for him. Big Mike, is
such a great man. I mean, his character and heart are bigger than his body, which is a feat in itself.
I remember a time we went camping on his land, and brought only a couple of pocket knives and
some cold drinks and he got a skillet, some flour, and a bit of oil and gigged a mess of bullfrogs from
his pond. That night we ate fresh frog legs, over a fire. It was awesome. Frog gigging is a very manly
process. I could probably never marry a girl if she was a professional frog gigger.
We found out yesterday that Provident records passed on signing our band for a record deal.
At the time, it was probably the best thing that could have happened to us. The show yesterday was
great. In the middle of the set, we stopped playing, dropped everything and started laying hands
on the kids and praying with them. I remember feeling the weight of the home systems that were
crushing down on those kids. I remember praying that God remove those powers from their lives.
After the show the youth pastor began to share some of their stories and it was evident that God
was totally in control...
